Pet Street, Saturday afternoon in Chengdu!

The Pet Market!

Saturday we took a trip to the Pet Market street.  It was very entertaining.  The kids just loved it.  They sold all sorts of different things.  They loved looking at all the different fish, mice, hamsters, neon frogs, dogs, kittens, frogs, turtles, sting rays...... and more.  THere are so many stands full of different types of animals.  Mabel was in Heaven.  We saw some really adorable puppies.  Izzy really wanted to take one home.  We hung out in one stall for a while, petting the puppies, they had a golden retriever, Alaskan Husky and a white fluffy dog.  After the kids had been petting the puppies for a while the owner said that Chinese parents don't let their kids pet the puppies.  I kind of laughed and said, oopps, but how can they resist, they were so cute.  We made sure they put hand sanitizer on, but they were so cute.  Maybe someday!!!!!

They artificially die the frogs to make them look cool.  Pretty sad, I don't think they last long.

Lunch Time

I love walking around Chengdu at lunch time.  Everyone is gathering outside, on the street,  around a small table.  They sit down around a big bowl of something interesting.  All Family Style.  It sure is fun to watch and some of it actually looks pretty good!  Sadly, after walking around with the kids for a while, we opted to eat at McDonalds.  So boring, next time we need to try one of the noodle places!!!

Don't you love how bundled that baby is?

Leaving our kids with the Marines:

The Marines offered to watch the consulate kids for about 10 bucks a kids for 4 hours.(the money went to charity)  They had movies, popcorn and games.  2 of the families here took them up on it.  We each gave them 4 kids, so they had 8 kids to 5 Marines.  Not bad!!!  The kids had a lot of fun.  Poor Sawyer was so tired, he ate some pizza and popcorn and was watching Despicable Me 2 When he fell asleep in his chair and stayed very still for the rest of the evening.  Mabel fell in love with one of the Marines and followed him around most of the night.  I was worried about her, but she had so much fun.  Izzy made some nice crafts with Pandas on it, and I think LIncoln had fun playing games and watching movies.  They want to keep doing things like this with the consulate kids.  They want more ideas.  I think this is a great way for the kids to get to know the Marines!

While they were babysitting, Kelly and I and the other couple, Amy and Tyler DeWaal went to  the Wide and Narrow Ally.  We wanted to eat Hot Pot and watch a Face Changing show, but come to find out you need a reservation.  So we went to a place called "The Sent of a Woman"  Ironically enough the room they were going to put us in was extremely smoky.  But because we had my friends baby with us they put us in a private room.  They food was ok, but they charged us a Ton for Soda!!!  We won't be going back there....

While walking around I saw these adorable girls eating dinner!!!

People love to walk around in their pajamas here, not sure why, but here is a lady in her pink pjs with a cute bear on it....
