LeShan The Giant Buddha

One of the first outings we took when we got temporary plates for our car, was to see the Giant Buddha in LeShan.  This is a 233 foot tall stone statue, built during the Tang Dynasty, 713.  It is carved out of a cliff face that lies in the corner of 3 rivers.  This is the largest stone Buddha in the world.  This was a pretty impressive sight and a beautiful drive.  We went with 2 other family friends that also live on the compound.  We first took a ferry along the river to get a real good look at the enormous statue.  Then we walked around it and climbed to the bottom, then back to the top, ending off at an old fishing village.  Then we took a bunch of Tuk Tuks back to our car.  The kids did really good climbing up and down those steep steps.  It was a fun adventure!
