Happy 4th of July!
We missed out on parades and fireworks for the 4th, but we did get to go to a party for American's living in Latvia and whoever else the Ambassador felt like inviting. The party was held outside and it was such a beautiful day. We were so lucky to have Mc Donald's feed us at the party. I know you are all so jealous. Mc Donald's is your favorite place to eat also. We were so lucky to get yummy happy meals with your choice of a hamburger and cold french fries, or a cheese burger with cold french fries. Funny enough, we have been here for a year and we were really excited about these happy meals. We heard that last year they didn't have enough food, so as soon as they started pulling out the food, we stood in line. I was one of the first in line, so we were lucky. Actually they ended up having more food this year, so we didn't have to rush so fast. The meal was not exactly what I like to eat the most on the 4th of July, but you do the best you can living overseas. After all, Mc Donald's is America's food! They also had some fun things for the kids to do, Lincoln rode a horse, got his face painted, painted rocks, rode a car, he always gets all the fun. Sawyer was so tired from a week of no naps, that he slept most of the time. You might be wondering who that little girl is. She is Lincoln's friend and wanted to get in the picture with us, I didn't have the heart to kick her out.
I was really tired also, that morning I got up and met a friend at the beach and ran 6 miles. It was so nice! The beach here is so perfect to run on and it felt so great to have the breeze blowing on you as you run. So great! I am training for a half marathon in August and this next month is when the miles really go up fast, so I will be running far on the weekends. I'm thinking the beach every Saturday morning.
Kelly didn't have that much fun at the party since he had to be the Ambassador's side kick. So he hung out with her all afternoon. He had to make sure everything was going smoothly and make sure she met everyone. Fun stuff. I was pretty tired though, I only had the single stroller and Sawyer was asleep most the time in it, so I was carrying Isabel on me most of the time.
It was a good party, I here they are not always like that. A lot of the times these Embassy 4th of July party's are much more stuffy and kids are not invited. So I'm glad this one was kids friendly.
So because the 4th was on Saturday, Kelly got today off also. Which was great, we drove to Dunte. I forgot to bring my camera, and I am so sad. This place was so neat. They had a big pirates boat for kids to play on, then a nature park to walk through. It was so neat, you walked on these planks for about 1 mile to get to the beach. All along they way they had little things for kids to find. All sorts of things made out of wood, like bears, puppies, spiders, ducks, tons of things. We had a map and every little point on the map was one of these things. It helped so much to get Lincoln motivated to walk. He did so good. He is such a lazy little boy, never wants to walk, so it is amazing that he did so good. He walked the whole way! I carried Isabel and Kelly carried Sawyer on his shoulders, and Lincoln walked. When we finally got to the beach we were so sad we weren't more prepared. The beach was awesome. There was a little island off the beach Kelly and the boys played on. Sawyer was naked and it reminded me of "THe Lord of the Flies". I'm so sad I didn't have my camera. We will have to go back and I will take pictures.
Now I need to go to bed. I hope you had a great 4th, we did.
